Bali Day 3: Ubud to Nusa Ceningan

Wednesday, 14 March 2018

This morning Nick's brother-in-law picked us up at the house an Ubud and drove us to Cocomart in the Ubud central area.  Cocomart is the grocery store we got some snacks at yesterday and also the place our next driver is going to pick us up.  Shane worked with the next Airbnb we rented to arrange transportation out to Nusa Ceningan Island.  The boat company, Rocky Fast Cruises, is sending a drive to meet us at Cocomart.  He picked us up and drove us to the coast.  We got a speed boat with about 40 other tourist from Sanur, Bali to Nusa Lembongan.  The boat ride was about 30 minutes shore to shore.  There were no docks that the boats pulled up to so we waded through the water to board the boat.

We got off the boat at Nusa Lembongan and this is were the majority of the other tourist were staying, but we were traveling to an even smaller island to the east of Nusa Lembongan.  To get there we rode in the back of a truck, and then walked across a pretty yellow pedastrian/scooter bridge to get in the back of another truck to get to the house we rented for the next two nights.

When we arrived at the house, I think we were all a bit in disbelief that this is our life and we get to spend the next two and half days here.  The house was built from a beautiful dark wood, and they had decorated it very simply and beachy.  And the view of the beach from the backyard and pool was seriously incredible.

We can walk out of that gate and down the stairs to the beach.  It was amazing!

We got lunch at a small cafe across up the street from our house and spent the afternoon between the beach, ocean, and pool.  All over Bali there is only one beer served, Bintang, and you can get a giant bottle for $3.  It was such a relaxing day!

This evening we played Canasta and walked to a bar/restaurant maybe 2 km away.  There are no street lights or anything out on the island so it was really dark, but once our eyes adjusted it was beautiful and peaceful.  The stars are so incredible here.
