Bali Day 5: Nusa Ceningan and Kuta

Friday, 16 March 2018

I woke up a little after sunrise this morning and got out of bed to enjoy the last few hours of beauty around us on Nusa Ceningan.  The water was so calm this morning and the sky was clear enough to see the mountains and volcano in the distance.

The sky and water and just so blue here! It's memorizing!

We got back to the mainland and had the Rocky Fast Cruise van driver drop us off in Kuta since it was close to the airport. There were so many scooters parked out near the beach access.  We found a hotel that would allow us to rent a room to put our stuff in for the afternoon, shower, and use the resort pool for only $60 so we decided to do that.  We left our bags and went to get lunch at Johnny Tacos.

The guy above was drawing beautiful pictures into wood by burning it.  It was neat to watch and his wood surf boards were awesome!  Also, the whole island of Bali is getting ready for the Nyepi so lots of places were closing down for the weekend and lots of the statues were being unveiled.  Starbucks was one of the few places still open and Daris and Shane got coffees right before they closed shop.  Even Starbucks has canang sari--and include a shot of espresso as part of the offering.

We spent the afternoon lounging by the pool.  It poured rain for a while and we sat under the umbrellas, but then the sun came out and was so warm and relaxing.  This trip to Bali has been incredible.  I have loved spending time with Bren, Daris and Shane and am excited to have a few more days with them in Singapore.  (Someone, aka Bren, couldn't resist the option of french fries and a Coke poolside).
